A Jar of Wishes
Making a wish,
Saying a prayer,
For someone we love, near or far.
The Concept
“A Jar of Wishes” is a set of connected objects that stems from the idea of ‘people-to-people’ connection. It is a lamp that lights up with the analog gesture of lighting a candle, which in turn lights up another lamp that is with your loved one, showing them in real-time that you are thinking of them.
These connected objects help foster a stronger connection between two (or more) people when they are needed the most. Letting the other person know that you are thinking, wishing or praying for them, in the simplest and non-intrusive manner deepens the connection we have and creates a sense of support and bond between people.
The Design Process
“A Jar of wishes” was a one day project from idea to execution. The working prototype consists of a heat sensor in the front that activates when the flame is near it, a pair of neo pixel led rings that mimic the colors and movement of a flame, two Arduino nano boards that are connected, all of this enclosed in a laser-cut box and a real glass jar that gives the connected objects its name.
