CIID Documentary
Context
Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) launched their new location in Costa Rica in 2020 and started their 1st Interaction Design Programme outside of Denmark, amidst the COVID-19 crisis. CIID is a world renowned design school in Europe, but it has less presence in the South America area, and it was crucially important to develop their new media to tell their culture/learning process in order to attract more people from all over the world.
Concept
Digesting how CIID design students collaborate creatively and build something great digitally during the COVID-19 crisis. Also capturing the real motion of our lives, including Costa Rica, not just digital activities in zoom.
While digesting the lives of design students in videos, there is a focus on how individuals feel about the situation and overcome their difficulties in order to convey the immersed message to the potential applicants.
Process & Learnings
In following the brief of building a mobile interactive app experience that tells a story of something that each student is passionate about, I’ve explored multiple topics for storytelling and focused on “CIID Documentary” considering there is no media which makes applicants immerse in the CIID culture before joining the Interaction Design Programme. I conducted research on how to make the storytelling more immersive through user testing. After a certain storytelling style was chosen, I conducted iterative rounds of digital prototyping using Figma & Origami studio to fully understand the necessary elements & interaction.
