Circular Box is a drawing machine that generates visually pleasing, abstract patterns. Inspired by a spirograph, it offers a new and exciting form of drawing experience, as the visual output is a result of the co-creation between human and machine.

The core of Circular Box is a round plate which is rotated by a DC motor over a gear. A servo motor is mounted on the bottom of this plate, which can rotate up to two brushes. The combination of two motors enables the machine to generate two-dimensional drawings. The whole construction is stabilized by a ball bearing. Arduino is used as a tool to connect both digital and physical components.

The user can interact with the machine using a button and a potentiometer. By applying different colors, brushes and playing with the speed, each creation is unique.
