Daily Palette
For Rapid GUI prototyping, students were introduced to Origami. The brief was to design and prototype a weather app while keeping the primary focus on the app’s micro-interactions.
Daily Palette is a weather app that uses weather data and location information to render a unique color palette every hour, everyday. The app aims at providing color inspirations for design projects. The selected colors can be exported to design tools (like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Sketch) or act as filters on Pinterest to continue searching for more inspiration.
The top rows of colors represent the weather conditions - sunny, clear sky, rain and so on. The bottom half renders the color blocks based on the location. The location colors are picked out from nearby landmarks or prominent buildings. The palette refreshes every hour but it also has a functionality to review past weather conditions and upcoming projected weather for up to 3 days.
