Shaping human needs via artificial intelligence - a look into the future

Phenotypic plasticity explains how living-beings adapt to their environment. This process of adaptation develops behaviors that might be different from individuals of the same species. In the case of humans, there is a concept called cumulative cultural evolution that explains how each generation is always pulling up on the next generation.

The story is based in 2053, in a world where technology can solve human needs by intervening in the mundane moments of everyday life.  It provokes new thinking around how future generations might culturally evolve by reshaping their behaviors via artificial intelligence.

Imagine a toaster that provides a sense of connection with someone else - or a phone that mediates conversations by taking some general information from our side and processing the words from the other person to generate the most appropriate answers for the conversation.

"Human behavior is the most powerful force to shape the planet" (PJ Teh)
