Depth of Relationship
The objective was to help visualise the varying “Depth of relationships through different media.”
The idea was to compare the communication channels that we use against the relative ‘closeness’ felt to the people we talk to through these channels.
The insight here is that different channels have different properties. Based on their unique qualities, one chooses to use them for different kinds of content, frequency and addressees. Mapping which media was used to connect which people established a clear relationship between the channel and closeness to the people being communicated.
Visualising and encapsulating seemingly random and cluttered information into one single image helps to get an overview of the information in a nutshell, read insights and derive meaning out of the chaos.
A week long dive into understanding of information design, visual representation, type design, exercises and discussions, led to show how intelligent visualisation can represent different kinds of information effectively by both quantifying and qualifying it. Most importantly by making the complex simple and tangible.
