Family Friend is a web service that helps traveling parents find kid-friendly places to stay and things to do.

The service addresses the huge market of family travelers worldwide, but is initially targeted towards family travelers who are visiting Copenhagen. Through talking to a number of families visiting Copenhagen, we identified a need for aggregated, family-oriented reviews of attractions that are user-generated by parents themselves.

Family Friend also provides a benefit to local businesses, who could capture a larger audience by being positively reviewed on our service. Thus, we reached out to a number of businesses in the hotel and entertainment industries to gauge interest in partnerships with our service. We ultimately understood that because our revenue model focuses on affiliate marketing, businesses in the industry require evidence of a large, motivated audience in order to consider partnerships.

We envision Family Friend starting out as a platform for mommy- and daddy-bloggers, aggregating reviews of destinations and travel tips to gain an audience. The platform could be self-sufficient on ad clicks and impressions. If a sufficient following has built up, we would then build up a database of the reviews, partner with positively-reviewed businesses, and provide a service offering tailored package plans based on parents’ preferences.
