This excercise was part of an overnight assignment in the Generative Design class. Part of the assignment was to make use of video as the main input. We used the cover of Joy Division's debut album Unknown Pleasures (Wikipedia) as our point of reference.

We decided to attempt to animate the iconic (examples) look of the album. Brightness of every fifth pixel on every nth horizontal line is mapped to smaller range of values. Those values affect the vertical offset of the vertices on the scanlines - effectively creating the 'valleys' through which you can recognize the image in front of the camera.
