Kindred Spirit
In 2062, a special celebration for the 100th anniversary of Las Cruces Biological Station in Costa Rica took place, involving not only the visitors but also nature around them.
Kindred Spirit is an interactive installation concept that allows visitors to hear the stories from the residents, the trees of Las Cruces, and share back their own stories, which will be passed on to the future generations.
This celebratory experience follows, as the visitors put their hands (with centenary wristbands) on the trees that have touch sensors. Upon recognizing their handprint, the tree begins telling the stories to the visitors. Through this, the visitors discover the wisdom of the resident trees, who have lived there for hundreds of years.
The visitors can also share their secret stories and hide them within the trees. These stories, that are encrypted and saved, are only available for their relatives, which replicates the action of sharing afterlife wisdom with loved ones over generations.
