Metamorpho
What will the planet look like in the future? Specifically, what will the political, economic, and cultural issues of 2036 be?
Meta-morpho is a response to these speculative questions and an installation design for a hypothetical 2036 World Fair. The project consists of a series of immersive booths that teleport users to different Costa Rican regions and enable them to transform into animals.
Inside the booths, users can choose from different animal pills that allow them to gain animal senses. These pills, combined with teleportation technology, drop visitors into different Costa Rican environments, allowing them to experience nature as an animal.
For example, visitors can experience the Corcovado jungle as an ocelot or swing through Monteverde’s canopy as a howler monkey.
As part of a one week-long Team Building course, the team was asked to imagine a future World Fair, hosted by Costa Rica in 2036. The team considered today’s current attitude towards climate change and posited a dark hypothesis for the future: Costa Rica will be the last place on the planet that will have greenery and biodiversity.
Meta-morpho celebrates Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity and how the natural environment teaches people how to connect with nature.
