For our team building week, we were asked to come up with an interactive experience for a speculative World Fair set in the year 2036 hosted by Costa Rica - just in time for the eve of San José’s 300th birthday. The theme of the experience had to connect with what Costa Rica had to offer in abundance - biodiversity.

This was one of our first projects at CIID and we were just getting to know each other. So we started off from one of our teammates’ (Victoria) areas of expertise - microbiology.

Everyone in the team brought some ideas to the table - and each liked the others’ ideas. We worked together to incorporate each idea where we agreed that it best fit in the experience. The result was the Microverse.

The Microverse is a combination of a dance floor and a petri dish. When one looks close enough, there is an amazing grace and vivacity to the way that microorganisms move. The colours and the shapes are an added bonus. Microverse has three sections that the guests can move in between - each with a different microorganism under the microscope.

So have fun and dance in the Microverse!
