Musica Fantasma is an installation that allows children to create music with the use of their shadows.

From the beginning the main question has been: How can we cultivate creativity and imagination through playing? Playing has a central role in the child’s growth and is a powerful tool for learning and developing new thoughts. It encourages the child to experiment, discover and understand mistakes. With the use of two of the oldest ways of storytelling; shadows and music, Musica Fantasma stimulates the children’s curiosity and its ability to express itself.

Musica Fantasma is composed of two modules: A light source and a tracking device. The interference with the light generates shadows that are detected by the second module. This input is used to control sound by activating audible samples.
