PLANTA
Due to COVID-19, many people had to work from home —even if their space wasn’t properly prepared for it.
Often many remote employees, who live in small city apartments, only have one space for living and working. For these people, breaks are not easy to take or impactful: break time looks and feels like work time due to the lack of non-digital distractions.
For example, they might take a break from working at their desk, but will look at their phones and start to involuntarily respond to work messages. As a result, they feel tired by the monotony of work.
PLANTA is an holographic plant that encourages users to take a break from work. The device helps people find alternative ways to get distracted, outside of screen-based interactions.
How it works
When PLANTA detects that you’ve been doing the same task for a certain amount of time, the device will loose energy and alert you to take a break.
PLANTA reacts positively with color, movement and sound when you move away from screens, stretch your body or change your behavior.
While PLANTA recovers its lost energy, the device plays nature sounds for users, helping them get back to work and focus until their next break.
