Potato vs. Potato

Student: Juliana Lewis  ·  Year: 2018  ·  Course: Data Visualisation

Potato vs. Potato is a data visualization project that compares the carbon emissions and km travelled of local produce vs. produce imported to Denmark. It was carried out on behalf of Københavns Fødevarefællesskab (KBHFF) - a member-based and member-driven food co-operative in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Juliana analyzed data from KBHFF's weekly produce deliveries in 2018, and compared it to ITC (International Trade Center) calculations based on UN COMTRADE statistics for Denmark's imports, focusing on four specific produce items. Interactive data visuals were created using a combination of the DataVisual Platform and  HTML. With no prior experience in HTML, this project permitted Juliana to learn a new skill, while also putting energy into an organization she believes in.
