Faculty: Kate Twomey & Peter Kuhberg

What is this workshop?

How do you cultivate creative confidence in kids? How do you introduce design thinking and prototyping to preteens and adolescents with imaginative and inspiring examples from their own lives? Using a mix of lo-fi materials, building toys, and basic technologies, this 5-day workshop will lead children ages 12–16 through a series of engaging activities designed to spark creative problem-solving and hands-on collaboration.

What will you learn?

The goal of the workshop is to foster a spirit of imagination and curiosity in kids and support their critical thinking in order to prepare them to be the innovation leaders of the future. Participants should come prepared to work in teams, use their hands, and most of all, have fun.

 How will you learn it?

Participants will learn how to:

• Empathise—how to define a "customer" need and design a product for others with differing perspectives.

• Ideate—how to brainstorm a multitude of ideas freely and explore potential solutions without fear of failure.

• Prototype—how to transition ideas from the drawing board to physical form.

• Test—how to interact with their prototypes and build upon customer feedback for iterative solutions.
