Segmented Motion
In this 5-day course we deep dived into investigating programming as a means to create living systems and explore the beauty that hides within rule-based worlds. It also served as a vehicle to submit ourselves to algorithmic thinking.
With some introduction in programming and further exploration with processing.org we were asked to take inspiration from nature.
In this case, I took inspiration from the invertebrates “millipede”, who when touched, curl to create a protective shield around them. This curling creates a beautiful and systemic circular pattern. The form, shape and pattern was explored through multiple movements using processing. The idea was then further extended by amplifying different colours.
Processing opened up the idea of creating a whole array of simple and complex living designs through basic algorithm, process and data system.<
