SleepTalk
The things some people say while they sleep are lost most of the time. Only when someone else happens to be around and awake when it happens these sometimes insightful sometimes hilarious peeks into ones sub conscience can be recovered.
Sleep talk is a journaling app that lets the sleeper record, save and share anything they might say during their slumber. Tapping the microphone button and putting down the smartphone starts a timer of 15 minutes, the time it takes for most people to fall asleep. During the night the app listens to sounds in the background and starts recording as a certain noise threshold is reached. Picking up the phone in the morning turns of the microphone and opens a list of the new sound snippets recorded during the night.
The rapid prototyping course with our three instructors from Facebook was mainly focused on progress through iteration. It required us to get get to a fully fledged concept including design and user flow within the first day so we could build many different variations of it over the course of the week. This sped up process building a new prototype each day also included a significant number of feedback sessions throughout the week. This proved very useful and allowed to produce well thought through prototypes of high fidelity in an extremely short amount of time. The tool used to build the prototypes was Facebook’s in-house prototyping tool Origami.
