The history of humanity has been mainly told by men. This oppressive perspective also affected the art world itself. Inequality is part of our history too and feminism will exist as long as gender inequality. Because feminism is just about equality.

Since art is such a powerful way of communication, it can be used to understand feminism through the decades. Each decade has had -and will have- its own battles (missions and protests) that are necessary to evolve (to r-evolve).  Now, in the middle of the Third wave of feminism, creativity is needed to express our needs regarding human rights. Through art we can read through the lines the hidden messages, feel the emotions and express through the different canvas, through different lenses, in order to raise our voices to achieve all of the social, political, sexual changes we all fight for.

The Feminist Guide to the Galaxy is a journey through the artwork of feminist artists through the decades. In each decade the user will find info about the missions and the protests that were held, regarding the feminist art movement path towards equality.

Stars are named after a female artist and each one allows the user to access a curated gallery. The user will find information about each art piece and its importance. After going through the galleries, connections can be made between stars. According to the patterns that each user identifies in the art pieces and artists, it is able to connect them.

As a final part of the interaction with the app, the user will be able to add more “stars” (which means to add more artists and designers to the gallery).

The project was created using a story board in low-fidelity sketching, medium-fidelity Figma mockups and high-fidelity Origami prototyping.
