TimeBox
Helping new remote workers to keep track of their time, in order to feel less disoriented, due to being in the same location day in and day out.
With the arrival of the pandemic, life has changed drastically for everyone in ways that previously would not have been thought feasible. While securing our safety, we have adapted our social rituals in less than ideal ways, which as we are noticing, have a much bigger effect on our wellbeing.
Our homes have adapted to accommodate the roles of both our home life and work lives. This, along with information fatigue, due to a steady stream of media that we are bombarded with daily (albeit now with less ways to expel that input of energy), has caused people to become disoriented with their sense of time.
Timebox is a tangible, screenless calendar that wakes people up with a sense of what day it is via a greeting, and announcement of the day, as well as a system for tackling their day.
The system involves two sets of tiles (representing personal tasks and work tasks), which are used for creating one’s schedule. A record button enables them to assign tasks and time blocks to each tile, and once done, a play button starts the schedule.
All of the tiles on the day’s schedule light up, Then, one by one, they flash, announce the corresponding recorded task and time block, and then slowly fade out during that time frame. This continues until all are done.
This project responds to SDG 3: Health and Well-Being.
