VICE
VICE increases awareness of unhealthy activities by tracking alcohol and tobacco consumption and visualizing their costs.
Most of us have indulged in unhealthy activities at least once in our lives. You know how it is; a couple of cigarettes a week, a couple of beers on a Friday night. In our research we discovered that smoking one cigarette decreases your life expectancy by 15 minutes; having two drinks decreases your life expectancy by 30 minutes. VICE allows you to be aware of these costs.
VICE’s goal isn’t to make you to consume less alcohol or tobacco; we certainly don’t think using this app will transform people’s behaviors. VICE is trying to increase mindfulness by presenting the data and visualizing it, which allows you to make more informed decisions.
The focus of the project was the GUI of the app; we used the phone's human interface guidelines to direct our design while maintaining a unique identity. This course allowed us to refine our pixel-pushing skills in digital graphic design, from typography to iconography to layout.
