Visionaries
Visionaries is a concept for a mobile application that lets people explore women innovators in different parts of the world through history and through the lens of everyday objects. This individual project was developed during the 3-week graphical user interface class at CIID. Figma, Origami Studio, and Adobe Illustrator were used for prototyping.
Tasked to ‘tell a story of choice’ in the form of a mobile application, the project shares the stories and achievements of visionary women all over the world which have often been overlooked or forgotten. Users can select different regions which show the progression in women’s inventions through history or discover many inspiring women’s legacies through everyday objects in their proximity. It hopes to explore achievements of women of different backgrounds, especially drawing attention away from a Eurocentric view, as well as showing how women have contributed to many items that we still use today.
The visual style follows a colourful vintage palette with playful illustrations and animations. The AR element through camera feed encourages users to explore their surroundings and make discoveries of stories of visionary women on their own.
