The bicycle is one of the most sustainable mobility alternatives in cities and also part of the strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change

weBike is an augmented reality application that shows the citizens of the city of San José the benefits of joining the cycling community from the individual perspective to the collective experience over a period of time: how much money they will save, what are the improvements they will make in their body and health , how much time they will gain instead of being stuck in traffic jams and finally how much CO2 they will stop producing when riding bikes. weBike invites the users and their friends to take a free ride on public bikes around the city.

In Costa Rica, the sector with the highest CO2 footprint emission is transportation, due to the development model that the rulers have chosen, in fact we can agree that San José is a city made for cars, increasing the amount of carbon particles. CO2 present in the air of San José.

How might we enable yought citizens to acknowledge their collective power to demand a better quality of life in San José city?

The design challenge is aiming to make the information relatable to people immediate reality by distributing the content in 4 main areas: Economic, Health, Urban, Environment.

weBike | enBici, is a tool to help cycling collectives to invite citizens to discover the individual and collective benefits of cycling as a mobility alternative over cars through an augmented reality experience.
